I want this project to act as a health campaign that will hopefully get people to think about their actions - It will be shot in the style of documentary but I will blur the lines between documentary photography and art by using a technique called Photo Montage inspired by John Heartfield who was a pioneer in using art as a political weapon to help deliver a message - his messages were of anti-nazi and anti-fascism. This technique allows for the viewer to take in the subliminal messages that in Heartfields images below show the results of a dictator layered over iconic photographs.
By using Photoshop I was able to get a basic understanding of how to create a photo montage ;
Personal Pronouns
Artist Barbara Krugers work consists of black and white photographs overlaid with declarative captions, using pronouns to address cultural constructions of power, identity and sexuality.
This technique could be an interesting way of delivering a message, it is used often is advertising to reinforce a brands message.
